The contest will donate 11.1% of the proceeds to ONE DROP, a Montreal-based charity founded by Laliberte that seeks to combat poverty by providing safe water.

“It seems crazy to buy a million dollars, but suddenly it seems like a fantastic idea and a great way to raise money for charity, considering great causes like a single drop being a share of the prize,” Negreanu said. “Trust me.” “I’m going to buy money,” Dewan added. “For a million dollars, there’s a good ring. It hurts so much, and for such a good reason, now I just have to win.”

Earlier this year, Australia Millions hosted a $250,000 event in Australia Millions. Before the WSOP announcement on Thursday, this was the biggest known event for a poker tournament. Twenty people participated in the tournament, and Eric Sidel won. Sidel won $2.5 million for the first place.
