At Daejeon Hanwha Life Eagles Park, the eighth-ranked Hanwha Eagles overcame the aftermath of the doubleheader the previous day and caught the second-ranked kt wiz.
Hanwha won 6-2, escaping its fourth consecutive loss. KT allowed the third-place NC Dinos, who did not play on the day, to chase by one game.
The two teams, which even pushed for a doubleheader in the aftermath of the suspension of rain for more than three hours the previous day, showed mixed appearances on the same day.
Hanwha players showed concentrated play, and kt looked tired.
Hanwha’s starting pitcher Lee Tae-yang gave up the first run in the top of the second inning, but immediately reversed the game in the bottom of the second inning.
Hanwha tied the game 1-1 with Choi Jae-hoon’s groundout to shortstop after grabbing a chance to load the bases with no outs with consecutive errors and walks by opposing second baseman Lee Ho-yeon and third baseman Hwang Jae-kyun.
In the first and third bases with one out, Choi In-ho’s ground ball scored an additional point.
In the bottom of the third inning, Williams hit a two-run shot to the left against kt starter Kim Min.
He hit his third fastball well with a ball count of one ball and one strike.
However, Williams felt pain in his right hamstring (스포츠토토) after hitting a home run and was replaced by Kwon Kwang-min during the offense and defense shift.
Hanwha added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with a 4-1 lead. After Choi Jae-hoon and Choi In-ho exploded consecutive hits, Lee Do-yoon’s sacrifice bunt and Lee Jin-young’s two-run timely hit to run to 6-1.
Hanwha’s Lee Tae-yang, who threw well, gave up a run in the fifth inning, but Joo Hyun-sang, Lee Min-woo, Jang Si-hwan and Park Sang-won finished the game with good pitching in the relay.
Choi Jae-hoon played with two hits and one RBI in four at-bats, and Lee Tae-yang won his third win of the season with three hits, two walks, three strikeouts and two runs in five innings.
