The reopening of Las Vegas casinos took a big step forward as the Gaming Commission approved guidelines proposed by the Board of Control a week ago, and Gov. Steve Sisolak announced that the first phase of his reopening plan would begin a week earlier. The Nevada Gaming Commission outlined specific guidelines that would be implemented to allow Las Vegas casinos to reopen. On Thursday morning, the Nevada Gaming Commission approved these rules, and all casinos operating in Silver State, which have been closed since March 18, must enforce these policies.

The guidelines include increased distancing on slot machines and strict social distancing measures, including how many players can sit at a given game table. All poker games will be played at 4-max until the guidelines are relaxed as the spread of coronavirus is considered controlled under these rules. Enhanced cleaning techniques will also be used throughout the casino, which will only be allowed to operate at 50% capacity.

“We are confident that these policies are sound not only for licensees, but also for employees and customers,” the Game Control Board said.
