Gaming Laboratories International LLC (GLI), a gaming technology compliance tester and security consultancy, celebrates its 35th anniversary worldwide today (Friday, June 21).
On the ever-changing technology and security environment that GLI must manage with and on behalf of customers, James Maida, President and Chief Executive Officer of GLI, explained in an open letter to customers at the end of the year.
Marina Wong, General Manager of GLI Asia Ltd, commented on the group’s 35th anniversary in an interview with GGRAsia: “We are celebrating this important milestone around the world and region, including in Makau and each Asia-Pacific region.”
The group has been active in the Asia-Pacific region for more than a decade and a half. It was recently exhibited at the Global Game Expo (G2E) Asia, Casino Industry Trade Fair and Conference in Macau.
Since GLI’s inception in the United States in 1989, the parent website states that it has “certified millions of land-based, online and lottery devices and system items, conducted advice and/or testing on equipment for more than 707 jurisdictions, and created a set of global standards that benefit suppliers, regulators, and operators.”

Written industry technical standards issued by GLI have been added and modified over the years. The most recent mention on the GLI corporate website is GLI-33 of the ‘Event Betting System’.
Wong of GLI Asia commented on the group’s 2024 milestone: “Each moment this year is a memorable celebration of how far we’ve come, attending industry events, conferences, trade shows and more to share insights, developments and best practices with industry professionals.”
Asked about how the group has evolved over the years, Wong replied: “Our commitment to the highest quality, efficiency, faster test processing, and superior customer service is just a few of the GLI’s unchanging features.”
She added: “We ensure that we can meet our customers’ needs by providing them with options for their time zone, location, and local language.”

Wong noted that over the years, GLI has expanded its services from athletics and lottery games to iGaming, sports betting, cybersecurity and other specialized services.
She also noted: “We have expanded our testing services to provide regulatory advisory services to suppliers, operators, and regulators around the world.”
Over the years, the GLI Group has expanded through strategic acquisitions.
