Boston’s 18th career victory journey

The Boston Celtics have finally taken back the throne. It has been 16 years since 2008. Boston’s long-cherished dream of winning the championship came true by repeating rebuilding and retooling since the Big Three era. Its 18th championship is the record of No. 1 in history, beating the Los Angeles Lakers (17 times). From its 2008 championship to its 2024 championship, let’s look back on its journey of 16 years. 메이저놀이터

a dream of building a collapsed dynasty

When Boston lifted its first trophy in 22 years in the 2008 Final, many expected it to add more than one trophy. Boston, the big three players, led by Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen, boasted an incredibly strong organization that was in its first season together. It had the best defense and toughness in the league.

However, Boston’s dream of “building a dynasty” did not come true. Kevin Garnett suffered a knee injury during the 2008-2009 season, which ended the season midway through the playoffs. He made it to the final again in 2010, but fell victim to the Los Angeles Lakers’ “Revenge Show.” He finished second in the final with three wins and four losses. He was just one win shy of regaining the title in two years.

The highs have passed. Pierce, Garnett, and Allen, who were at their peak when they first got together in 2007, started to lose their strength due to injury and aging. As the team was centered on the Big Three, it was natural that the roster depth became shallow. Shinsung Rajon Rondo became the point guard of the league and Boston was still a strong team, but he did not display enough power to overwhelm the league. LeBron’s “Ring Expedition” made a super team in Miami repeatedly collapsed, and Ray Allen joined the Miami Marlins as a “traitor.” The Big Three era is coming to an end as Paul Pierce, Carvin Garnett, and Jason Terry were traded to Brooklyn in the summer of 2013.

Blame, Brad Stevens

Criticism poured in. Boston’s front office, which traded Kevin Garnett, who devoted the rest of his prime to win the championship, and Paul Pierce, a franchise star and the heart of the team, could not be free from criticism. For Boston fans, it was a choice they could understand with their heads but not with their hearts. In short, “That’s not true.”

Amid public criticism, Danny Ainge is pushing ahead with his decision honestly. He took the helm of Brad Stevens, who has emerged as one of the best young masters in college by leading Butler University to the runner-up at the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year, and changed the coaching staff. It was a bold decision.

Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart, and Terry Rozier are starting to form the team’s mainstay, and Boston will grow into a 50-win team in the 2016-2017 season. With veteran Al Horford joining in, Boston has become a more seasoned team to play basketball. Boston missed a playoff ticket only once in 2014. Boston was still the winner.
